Sensible Transfers: Manchester United

We’re just one week to the start of the Premier League.
Interestingly enough, it’s just four days before the transfer window closes for English clubs. Looking back at it, it has been quite a productive transfer window for the top 6 (ignore this if you’re a Chelsea fan). While we’ve seen big money moves in Harry Maguire and Nicholas Pepe, we’ve also seen the arrival of young, exciting players in Daniel James and Mosie Kean.

So what has the transfer window brought about for Manchester United? A part of me is left wondering about the supposed arrival of many players linked to the United (half of Europe), including the ongoing Dybala saga, the possible inclusion of Mandzukic in the swap deal for Romelu Lukaku because it’s quite normal for Solksjaer to want a proper number 9, unless he wants to leave the bulk of the scoring to Rashford and the young Mason Greenwood. Also, if Real Madrid do come calling for Paul Pogba, because they have the luxury to play it out over the entire month of August (the transfer window doesn’t close until the end of August for the rest of Europe), United would want to keep a replacement ready. As we’ve seen throughout pre-season, Paul Pogba has been the only positive in that midfield. McTominay needs improvement, Andreas is inconsistent and Matic, incompetent, to say the least. So, United wouldn’t want to put themselves in a position where Pogba leaves for the Spanish capital and they’re unable to get in a replacement.
All in all, it has been a really productive window for the  Red Devils. And, the results have shown in pre-season. United are yet to not win a game. What it has done is, given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the freedom of choosing from a wide variety of players and formations. They could choose a wide 4-4-2 playing Andreas and James on either side, a 4-2-3-1 or even, a conventional 4-3-3. Well, if not anything else, we atleast won’t have to see Smalling and Jones play together every weekend. Young being given the captain’s armband does bother me, but again, screw you Ed. On a concluding note, do, do watch out for Aaron Wan Bissaka and Daniel James. All in all, if you’re an United fan, be excited about the new season. Good times ahead 😀

Glory Glory Manchester United.
